Bulgarian Country-Style White Bread
Hello!
Today I want to share a family bread recipe that my grandmother used to make. I want to carry on her tradition and preserve this recipe for future generations.
Ingredients
420 g flour type 500 + 30 g for shaping
300 g whey (you can substitute with milk)
10 g salt
8 g sugar
7 g dry yeast
20 g sunflower oil
Procedure
1. Warm the whey to 30°C together with the sugar, then add the yeast and 150 g of the flour. Mix very well. Transfer to a bowl, cover, and leave to rise until doubled in size.
2. Knead a dough using the remaining ingredients and the starter. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise until doubled.
3. Dust your work surface with flour and shape the dough into a round loaf. Generously sprinkle with flour, cover with a towel and let it proof until doubled, placed on a sheet of baking paper.
4. Bake for 30–40 minutes in a preheated oven at 200°C without a fan, spraying the loaf with water every 7 minutes using a spray bottle.
